Who is Sophia?

The women I work with describe me as all sorts of things including “an angel”, “heaven sent”,voice of calm that they hear during pregnancy & labour” to “my go to person whenever I need to calm my mind and take back control”.

I’m on a mission to teach YOU all you need to know to have the BEST BIRTH possible. Everything I teach is based on science, physiology and evidenced by the hundreds of women who have gone on from our work together to have an amazing birth experience.

The nosey part…

♥ Married to John, stepmum to an amazing 14-year-old (Tilly) who calls me her star-mum because all the storybooks paint us step-mums as wicked, and I’m definitely not that. We live in the Highlands of Scotland (Conon Bridge, 12 miles from Inverness) and I work with women the world over. We have two of the most adorable cats in the world, Goldie & Shadow.

For more than a decade I’ve been coaching people through intense periods of transformation; becoming a mum is most definitely one of them! Unlike most hypnobirthing teachers I am a fully trained hypnotherapist which means that you and I will go deeper to create even bigger shifts in your thinking.

When it comes to birth I mostly work one on one with couples (or just the one who’s pregnant!) to help you prepare for the best birth possible. It’s all backed by science, loved by mamas. I love to dive in deep to the truth of who you are and what you need from me.

If you’re ready to explore the Birth Preparation Programme (hypnobirthing), click HERE.

As well as supporting you to create the best birth possible I love to roll up my sleeves and turbocharge the lives and businesses of entrepreneurs because I’m passionate about supporting people to recognise how much power they have to influence their births and their lives!

Looking for the inside scoop?

Born in Inverness I have lived everywhere from Cyprus to Hebden Bridge before returning home to the Highlands. I’m intuitive, a highly sensitive person, and an empath (don’t worry, not a mind-reader).

I LOVE hot chocolate and herbal tea (hate coffee), can eat four chocolate eclairs with absolute ease in one sitting - and still fancy a fifth.

I can’t stand being around people who lie: I physically vibrate (no joke). I’m a complete softie at heart and absolutely ADORE waking up to photos of the hypnobirthing babies who arrived in the night.

"Sophia was a great help during my pregnancy, keeping me calm, focused, and giving me breathing, relaxation and meditation exercises. I went into panic mode when my doctor told me I had to have an elective C-section because my little boy was breech and measuring small. Sophia listened intently then engcouraged me to stay mindful, breath-aware and not to get hung-up on how I thought my baby's birth should be, and to let go of feeling disappointed because I wasn't able to deliver him naturally.

Thank you so much for helping me alongside my hypnobirthing journey! I tell everyone how great a coach and mentor you are too. Every mother-to-be should know!"

So why do I do what i do?

In a nutshell, I can’t NOT do what I do. I’m not going for a Miss World title (I’m a Mrs remember 😂), but I deeply believe in making the world a better place and each and every one of us starts of as a baby with our own personal welcome to the world.

If I can help make that welcome calm, relaxed, confident and loving and you’re born into the arms of an empowered mother I’d say we’ve made a great start! And by the way, if you happen to birth through c-section or have an instrumental delivery and have felt actively involved in that then you too are all of the above.

I know from personal and professional experience the skills, techniques and experiences that get you better birth results, and I can’t wait to share them with you.

Here’s three more things you might find interesting:

1) I had open heart surgery in 2017 for a heart defect we knew nothing about. I used all my hypnobirthing techniques pre-surgery and post-op and they made the world of difference. I’ve got more energy now than I did 20 years ago. No wonder!

2) I used to read the news for a commercial radio station and work for the BBC. I realised that there was so much more to life than telling people’s stories, so now I help them make massive mindset shifts so they have a far better story to tell! Sometimes I still fall into serious presenter mode and have a little laugh so I can snap out of it.

3) According to my husband (thanks darling) I dance the same way every time, no matter what the music is. Hey, at least I dance… once upon a time I’d have been the wall flower 😂 🌸
